Figure 5. Identify the two temporal poles in this figure and the corpus callosum arching forward above them. As you look at the "C" shaped fornix, which is at the medial edge of the lateral ventricle, you can appreciate some of the spaces that make up the ventricle. E.g., the hippocampus, and fimbria of fornix, make a ridge in the temporal and collateral trigone portions of the ventricle, while only the fornix will continue in a relationship with the body and frontal portions of the ventricles.

Anteriorly, in the temporal lobe, the hippocampus will end near the nuclear complex called the amygdala. A fiber tract that leaves the amydala and also follows a "C" shaped configuration, the stria terminalis, will be seen when you turn to Step 6..
