Here's a section you may not see in the lab, but you should recognize the midbrain as it extends caudally from the hypothalamus.  Try to identify the following areas:  cerebral aqueduct, decussation of the superior cerebellar peduncle, substantia nigra, cerebral peduncle.  What's the space called that is lateral to the midbrain (you'll be surprised).  Click on the image to see the labels.  Other structures that you might be able to find include the third ventricle, posterior cerebral artery, straight sinus and superior sagittal sinus.
